A Pentagon source revealed on Monday that the US Department of Defense has deployed six aircraft specializing in electronic warfare and 240 elements of the Navy to reinforce defenses on the eastern flank of NATO.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby also said an EA-18G “Growler” from Naval Air Force Base Whidbey Island, Washington state, was scheduled to arrive on Monday at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany, where it will be in the spotlight.
The same source added that this fighter plane was not intended for it Ukraine. A senior US defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that the conflict in Ukraine has seen little change.
According to this Pentagon source, Russian forces remain largely in defensive positions in areas near the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, while making little progress in other parts of the country.
He added that the Ukrainian armed forces had recaptured the town of Trostianets, south of Sumy, in eastern Ukraine.
The senior Pentagon official explained that for the United States, Russia continues to prioritize operations in the Donbass region and reduce its focus on ground operations near Kyiv.
