CM Punk and Jack Perry had a falling out backstage at All In last Sunday, prompting AEW to suspend both fighters.
Furthermore, it was reported that the “Second City Saint” threatened to quit AEW, and even insulted Tony Khan in one of the altercations.
On Saturday, AEW released a statement announcing that it had terminated its contract with CM Punk, meaning he would be fired.
The contract termination was confirmed and commented on by Tony Khan, CEO, General Manager and Chief Creative Officer of AEW, who said the following:
elephant [Brooks] CM Punk played an important role in AEW and I thank him for his contributions. Terminating your contracts with AEW for cause is ultimately my decision, and my decision alone. Of course, I hope I don’t have to share this news, which may be disappointing to many of our fans.
However, I’m making the decision for the many great people who make AEW possible every week – our talent, crew, arena operators and so many others whose efforts go unrecognized but are essential to bringing our fans to a great world. Offers On television screens in arenas and stadiums around the world.
This decision comes after a multi-day investigation into what happened, and several other controversies that CM Punk has been involved in over the past year.
Collision will take place this Saturday and All Out on Sunday at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, the fighter’s hometown.
