Dutch DJ Hardwell abruptly abandoned his set at the SAGA Festival in Bucharest, Romania, accusing the organization of failing to pay and blaming it for technical equipment problems.
In a video circulating on social media, Hardwell is seen angrily removing his headphones, before picking up the microphone and addressing the crowd: “I came from Holland to play for you. This festival didn’t pay me to be here. But I am,” the DJ said. “The equipment is worthless. Nothing works. I’m here for you and I want to play. But it’s not possible. I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to cancel.”
Festival organizers SAGA responded to Hardwell’s accusations, issuing a statement that disputed the DJ’s claims. “The equipment the DJ used also came from the Netherlands and worked very well during Will Sparks’ set,” they said. “Had you left us, we would have quickly resolved any technical issues. We have done everything we can to respond to your requests – including payment.
Hardwell has not commented further on the incident beyond the initial statement. The episode sparked a wave of reaction on social media, with fans expressing their frustration and support for both the DJ and the festival organization.
