Porsche subconsciously took a gift for the Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens Friday to the public.
The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is even more extreme and brutal
Yes, it’s the radical 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which just so happens to be the top of the range for this high-performance sports family.
The highlight of the characteristics of this super sports car is 7:09300 minutes achieved at a distance of 20,832 kilometers from the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
That’s 23.6 seconds short of the traditional GT4’s record, which really shows its runaway side.
stronger and faster
The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS has a 4.0-liter block and naturally aspirated six-cylinder to produce 500 hp and 449 Nm at 9000 rpm.
“Weaker” than the 510 hp and 420 Nm of the Porsche 911 GT3, it shows significantly higher levels of power and torque than the 420 hp and 420 Nm of the Cayman GT4.
And unlike its “brother”, the engine is uniquely paired to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Of course, the driver always has the option of manually shifting gears via the paddles on the steering wheel or the new lever mounted above the center console.
The greater power, combined with the lighter weight of the car, allows it to complete zero at 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 315 km / h.
This is 35 kilograms less due to the extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic in the hood and fenders, and due to reduced insulation.
The rear window is also different, the shutter panels have fabric handles.
Refined aerodynamics
30 cm lower in ground clearance than the conventional 718 Cayman, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS has seen the suspension in a new configuration.
Shock absorbers, springs and stabilizer bars have been revised, with ball joints connecting the suspension to the chassis.
The differences take on more texture with the renewed aesthetic of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, starting with the massive rear spoiler inspired by the aggressive 911 RSR and 911 GT3.
New air intakes in place of the small rear windows, designed to improve the overall aerodynamics, “create an intoxicating sound for occupants,” assures Porsche.

Engine cooling is now more effective when combined with the side air intakes, which have also been completely overhauled.
The aerodynamic changes in the rear diffuser continue in spoiler Front with side fins, bottom air intakes and hood.
The final result? 25% increase in downforce when pose is selected. performance, to enter and exit faster than the turns.
Of course you can always release more weight if you choose the package Weissach, with carbon fiber finish on the front cover, air intakes, air filter housing cover, mirror frames and rear spoiler.
The optional package also includes a titanium exhaust, the same material used for the safety bars in the rear of the cabin.
Porsche claims this variant is 23.6 seconds faster than the traditional 718 Cayman GT4 at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
In this case, the 20-inch alloy wheels were replaced by magnesium alloy wheels “selected” by Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.
Appearing for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show, in our country the best “Porschesta” can now order 718 Cayman GT4 RS from 197143 euros.
Clubsport for rinks only
Presented at the same time as the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, it was a variant designed only for track racing.
The successor to the generation launched in 2016 and revamped three years later, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Club Sport is more powerful than ever thanks to its completely redesigned chassis.
Up front is a more prominent fender for greater downward power, with air intakes integrated into the fenders and an adjustable tailgate.
For endurance tests, it can be equipped with additional headlights and new front caps for quick refueling, as well as two different exhaust systems with noise limiters.
Most of the car’s bodywork, as well as the steering wheel, is built from lightweight, flax-based natural fiber composites as an alternative to carbon fibres.
If Porsche uses these vehicles at the moment only in its competing models, then there is no ruling out that they will not be applied in future production cars.
The 4.0-liter engine, derived from the 911 GT3 Cup, generates 507 hp and 465 Nm at 9000 rpm, 76 hp and 41 Nm more than the previous 3.8 liter version.
A seven-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox, with shorter ratios, sends power and torque to the rear wheels, aided by a limited-slip differential.
Naturally, the suspension has been tuned to handle it, by getting two-way adjustable dampers.
Three types of springs for both axles, and two-bladed, leveling stabilizer bars allow you to adjust the height to the ground.
Braking efficiency is ensured by 380mm ventilated discs, backed by software Reprogrammable for ABS and Porsche Stability Management.
Safety equipment includes a welded safety cage, adjustable Recaro seat with six-point seat belts, and a fire extinguisher.
The kit was completed with an integrated air intake system, a 115-liter FT3 fuel cell, as per FIA regulations, and additional foam on the driver’s side, which is required for SRO Championships.
