World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10, and in 2023, the Municipality of Viseu is marking this date with two initiatives to promote knowledge about mental health, with the aim of highlighting the challenges in the fight against mental health diseases.
On October 10, the Aula Magna of the IPV – Instituto Politécnico de Viseu will host the symposium “AbreMente” – Mental Health and Well-Being, with a panel of distinguished speakers specialized in the fields of Psychology, Education, Health, Sports and Well-Being. -It is -It is.
“Managing emotions” with Prof. Dr. Ana Isabel Correa (PAIDEIA), “Mental health in the family” with Prof. Dr. Isabel Silva (Piaget Institute); “Mindfulness and Well-Being”, with Prof. Dr. Katia Magalhães (ESEV), “Laughter Yoga” Workshop, with Dr. Maddalena Bravo; Workshop on Experimental Art Therapy: Shaping Feelings, with Dr. Daniela Martinez; “Good practices for promoting mental health at school | Well-being Observatory”, with a team of psychologists in the school context of the municipality of Viseu – Dr. Carla Martins and Dr. Cristina Varandas; “The Health Benefits of Mental Sports”, with Dr. Francisco Neto (national coach of the Portuguese women’s national football team); And the surprise workshop “Challenge yourself for mental health”, promoted by the Viseu Football Federation, are the moments that the seminar participants will be able to enjoy. On October 13, the “AbreMente” mental health walk will be organized along the Ecopista do Dão, from the Viseu District Court to Tondelinha, including the return journey. The activity begins at 9:15 am and ends at 11:45 am. Participants must wear comfortable clothes. Participation is free but requires mandatory registration through the following link:

Both initiatives are organized by the Municipality of Viseu, Casa do Povo de Abraveses, Centro Paroquial de S. José, and Cáritas Diocesana de Viseu, with support from the Viseu Football Association, Jogo + Vida, the Institute of Applied Sciences of Viseu, the Piaget Institute and ACES. Dow Lavoice.
