On Thursday (14), the Ministry of Health delivered 20 more medicine kits and pharmaceutical assistance supplies to support residents of Rio Grande do Sul affected by the extratropical cyclone and heavy rains that hit the state. With the new shipment, the state already has 30 kits, which will be able to serve 45,000 people for about a month.
In addition to medicines, the Ministry sent 21 specialists from the National Emergency Force and four technicians from the Department of Public Health Emergency Management (DEMSP) to support emergency response measures. The assistance procedures are carried out with the support of specialists from Grupo Hospitalar Conceição (GhC), except for those carried out in the municipality of Colinas, which are supported by the team at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). The goal is to reduce the risks of exposure to residents and healthcare professionals, and to reduce resulting illnesses and injuries, as well as damage to healthcare infrastructure.
Data for this Thursday (14) indicate that 400 personal protective equipment have already been distributed, 54 psychological and social services have been provided, 347 nursing services, 146 medical services, and 61 services have been provided in the Ministry of Health field hospital (medical and nursing), in addition to 47 home visits in the field of… Healthcare through SUS National Force.
The Ministry of Health will also allocate R$80 million to finance procedures and services in the affected cities. Direct emergency resources will be used to purchase medicines, disaster supplies, repairs, and build and rebuild health units, among other measures. “Through the Health and Environment Surveillance Secretariat, we have firmly integrated this prevention and rapid response agenda,” Health Minister Nicia Trindade announced during the visit.
