On Friday, June 30, the Minister of Health of the State of Minas Gerais, Fabio Pacreti, participated in the first meeting of the Residential Curative Services of Minas Gerais, in Barbacena. The event was promoted by the Secretariat of Health of the State of Minas Gerais (SES-MG), in partnership with the Provincial Health Supervision Authority of Barbacena and the Municipal Health Secretariat of Barbacena, to health professionals from the region and the state, and other guests. Policies.
Under the title “Deinstitutionalization Process: Building Mental Health Care in the Territory”, the meeting focused on the municipality of Barbacena, because of the history that the Territory has experienced, according to a work that has been carried out with precision and in a precise manner, involving several actors, which aims to re-integrate socially and heroically for the user.
The program included four discussion tables, with the participation of professionals with a long career in mental health, professionals from the municipality of Barbacena, users living in residential therapeutic services (SRT), and representatives from the municipalities of Antonio Carlos, Ipertioga. and Carandaí, who carried out SRT and welcomed people from the Barbacena Psychiatric Hospital Center (CHPB) and the Jorge Vaz Custody Hospital. Also present were Contagem specialists – the municipality that will deploy 4 SRT’s to accommodate the last 36 patients residing at CHPB.
Opening the event, the Secretary of State for Health, Fábio Baccheretti, said, “This is probably the biggest handover we will make during our tenure, it is not something concrete like the handover of the tomography, the new CTI, but proof that we can fix mistakes when we want to.” Barbacena was an example In terms of asylum errors, but it’s a clear success in therapeutic housing services, and the city has shown that it’s possible to bring about such structural change in mental health.” On the current public mental health policy, the Minister said that in recent years, R$27 million has been allocated to psychotherapy teams. Network of Psychosocial Care (RAPS) in Minas Gerais
According to information from the Mental Health Directorate of the State Secretary of Health of Minas Gerais (SES-MG), there are currently 136 residential treatment services (SRT) in 27 municipalities, and SRT is a strategic service for the deinstitutionalization process. of patients/residents of psychiatric facilities and a foster hospital, who have been hospitalized for two years—or more—without a break. The state has co-financed the RAPS network annually, as well as promoting the implementation of new services.
State investments in Barbacena
From 2018 to 2023, SES-MG made transfers to the Barbacena Municipal Health Fund with a total value of approximately R$110,031,509.97. In the municipal hospital policy, R$ 17,303,061.75 were invested through the state policies of Pro-Hosp and Valora Minas. In primary care, the total investment is R$ 9,450,256.40, in addition to amounts also invested by the state in health services such as SAMU, elective surgeries, the policy of decentralization of the specialized component of pharmaceutical assistance (PDCEAF), the state fund for health, the purchase of tomography, and transfers of non-tax adjustments assigned to equipment and vehicles, in addition to optional transportation.
