This Thursday, the Loulé Chamber and the Ministry of Health laid the foundation stone for the new building of the Loulé Health Unit, a long-awaited work of five million euros and 2,650 square metres.
This is a work expected for many years “that will mean ‘expanding the response capacity and quality of medical services’ in the municipality,” said the mayor of Lule, Vitor Alexo (PS), on the sidelines of the signing ceremony and the work mission document and the laying of the first stone for the new building.
The new health facility will be located on the land adjacent to the existing health center and will include four areas: central health center clustering, family health unit, community health care unit, and university health center.
The new building, which will support the existing health center and expand it by 2,650 square metres, has a construction period of, from now on, 900 days (about two and a half years) and at a cost of 4.680 million euros, according to local authorities can increase to about five million euros, 65% will be paid by the municipality and 35% paid by the central government.
Vitor Alexo stressed that, thanks to this equipment, people from Loulé will be better served in terms of healthcare,” adding that the building will serve 14,000 users in the family health unit and 70,000 in the community health care unit.
The mayor also confirmed that “there are other projects on the way in the health field” in Lule municipality, referring to the expansion of the Almancil Health Center and another in Cartera to expand the existing health center and find a health center. The site for “new health equipment”.
For his part, the head of the Regional Health Department (ARS) in the Algarve, Paolo Morgado, confirmed that the new building “has been a dream for many years”.
