The hotel maid covered herself in chocolate for the candy buffet table, in her swimsuit. The woman works at the four-star Voi Colonna Hotel Resort, located in northeastern Sardinia, Italy, and was asked to stand on the stairs for half an hour, according to the British newspaper, The Telegraph.
“I was speechless when I saw that scene,” said guest Federico Mazeri, who watched the episode on August 15, while his 14-year-old daughter accompanied him. The man revealed the situation on his LinkedIn page and it quickly gained the attention of the international press.
In the same post, he asked, “How can there be such behaviors in which the body of a woman, a servant, is considered a dish just to please someone’s eye?”

Although Maziri asked the hotel management for an explanation the next morning, he received no response. Regarding the staff, he explains, they ignored all his concerns and insisted that the employee was “just a chocolate figurine”.
However, after the story received worldwide attention, the hotel was forced to admit that it had, in fact, made a mistake. Since then, Voi Colonna’s management has already apologized to the guest, stressing that they had no intention of disrespecting customers and would work to ensure that “situations like this do not happen again in the future”.
Several Italian political figures ended up commenting on what happened. Christian Solinas, the regional governor of Sardinia, said of this unusual moment: “This is an incident that offended everyone and made me embarrassed as well.”
Augusta Montaroli, vice president of the “Brothers of Italy” party, stressed that the maid “represents the kind of culture that the government is fighting with all its weapons in defense of women.” “It is encouraging to see how the tourism sector has reacted unanimously to the stigmatization of what happened,” he concluded.
