The Ministry of Health burned 36 million vaccines against various diseases, inherited from the Bolsonaro government, with an expiration date or about to expire, with no time for use. The average is 200,000 doses dispensed per day, according to a column in Metropoles.
The survey, which was conducted by columnist Guilherme Amado, was conducted using data provided under the Access to Information Act. From January to June, the ministry burned 36.6 million doses of immunization devices. For every 10 doses of vaccine discarded, nine will expire in 2022 or until March of this year.
The survey indicates that 66% of the vaccines out of the total battalion were for Covid, with 24.3 million doses. Then, at 15%, the triple vaccine or DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) with 5.6 million doses. Yellow fever vaccine, with 3.3 million doses burned, accounted for 9% of the total.
Rabies vaccinations in dogs have also been excluded; BCG (acute tuberculosis); Hexavalent (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B and Hib); varicella viral quadruple (measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox); and cholera.
