nFollowing the visit of the Minister of Health to the Mirandela Hospital Unit, Manuel Pizarro, on September 9, 2023, the President of the Mirandela City Council, Julia Rodríguez, delivered a memorandum calling for a set of basic and necessary measures to strengthen the provision of health care to the residents of the municipality of Tras os Montes.
In the interest of defending the health and well-being of its community, the Municipality of Mirandela has already demonstrated its willingness to actively cooperate with the central state in developing measures that can facilitate the reception and retention of more doctors in the municipality.
This position of the City Council was the subject of dialogue with the other entity responsible for the health sector, the North-East Local Health Unit.
The City Council will oppose, with all means at its disposal, any intention – which it believes does not already exist – to reduce the capacity of the health services currently in place in the municipality. As retirement age approaches for many doctors, it is necessary to strengthen these professionals.
On this date, the City Council once again insists on the Ministry and the health authorities, strengthening the offer made through the memorandum of September 9, 2023.
Throughout this process, the municipality hopes that future changes will strengthen health services.
