The Super Dragões, the main supporter of FC Porto, reported on Monday that “a management committee of 13 people has been formed, with the aim of continuing” the history of the organized group of fans.
The said committee “will meet with the new management of FC Porto, with the aim of defining the lines/relationship between the club and the fans for the 2024/2025 season”, can be read in a message circulating on social media among the club’s groups of cheerleaders who met at the general assembly.
It should be noted that the deadline for submitting lists for the elections of the new administrative bodies of the Super Dragão team, scheduled for Monday, ended on July 4 without any candidate emerging to succeed Fernando Madureira, who has been in pretrial detention since the end of January after his participation in the “Praetorian Process”.
In the latter part of last season, the group of fans was led by “Libiño” Ferreira, and at the beginning of June, Porto announced, in a statement, the end of the protocol applied in recent years, and promised a meeting of the new directors to make Super Dragões to establish the guidelines for the new relationship between the club and the fans.
This is the full message from Super Dragons:
“We inform all the nucleus presidents that on 15/07/2024, due to the lack of lists of candidates, a management committee of 13 people was formed, with the aim of continuing the tremendous history of the Super Dragways.
In the coming days, the committee will meet with the new management of FC Porto, with the aim of defining the lines/relationship between the club and the fans for the 2024/25 season.
It is essential for this new beginning, first of all, to move the registrations of the Super Dragões members to the sporting season and not to the calendar year, as has been the norm until now. We know that some may feel hurt, but we ask for everyone’s understanding. Starting from scratch is essential so that everything goes as smoothly as possible.
Annual Super Dragões membership costs €20. More information later in the week.”
