YuA university student from York, UK managed to “escape” a parking fine using a message written by ChatGPT.
Millie Houlton, 22, was given a £60 (about €68) parking ticket, despite a sign allowing her to park on that street, she told the BBC.
As she was so busy with college work, the young woman was still thinking of paying the amount, even though the fine was a mistake.
However, he had come to the conclusion that it wasn’t his fault, so he would appeal. There was only one problem: it couldn’t be properly expressed. The student then decided to use ChatGPT, and put all the details on “where and how much it happened, why it was wrong and the exact reference”.
That was when the AI chatbot gave him a “perfectly worded, personalized response within minutes,” explaining the situation “exactly.”
To the young woman’s relief, the municipality ended up withdrawing the fine.
