Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced, via the official PlayStation® Blog, the ASTRO BOT Limited Edition DualSense™, the greatest adventure of the beloved PlayStation® character, which is now available for reservation, both at regular points of sale, and on PlayStation®Store and PlayStation Direct, arriving on September 6 exclusively on PlayStation®5. The new controller will only be available on the game’s launch day, however, reservations will be available from August 9, through PlayStation Direct, and also at select regular points of sale, for €79.99 (RRP).
“Featuring the signature Astro Blue accents on the grips and buttons, the sculpted sci-fi lines, and the iconic pair of playful eyes on the touchpad, this new controller design is a true work of art, and we couldn’t be happier with it,” wrote Nicolas Doucet, Head of Studio at Team Asobi, before listing some of the amazing things his new game does with the DualSense™ wireless controller.
“First, as many of you would expect from an Astro game, you’ll be able to feel the surfaces he runs and slides on, from grass, sand and metal, to soft textures or water,” he said, adding that while this already happened in Astro’s Playroom, here they’ve increased “the number of textures that can be felt through the controller.”
Additionally, Nicolas Doucet also said that they doubled the “number of adaptive triggers along with haptic feedback, which ties them in strongly with Astro’s new powers.” He explained, “When you use Barkster, the bulldog’s jetpack, you can feel the fuel hitting your finger in sync with the animation, giving a very dynamic and immersive feel. Each new power has received the same special treatment, so you can feel different expressions through your fingers.”
The news doesn’t stop there, among other things, the head of the Asobi team also talked about the Dual Speeder, one of the tools that Astro uses a lot and allows him to travel to multiple planets. He wrote: “The Dual Speeder uses all the features of motion control, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback.”
Remember that ASTRO BOT, developed by Asobi Team, brings back the iconic robot hero from PlayStation® in a new, large-scale space adventure. Here, Astro’s galactic enemy has attacked the PS5® mothership, damaging the wiring and scattering the crew across space. Only Astro can solve the problem, and as he embarks on his biggest mission yet, he’ll need players’ help to rescue the crew and rebuild the mothership.
ASTRO BOT will take players to explore 6 galaxies and over 80 levels in search of the scattered Astro Crew, where they will be able to use over 15 unique abilities to make their way through each scenario. The game is available for pre-order now on PlayStation®Store, PlayStation Direct and the usual points of sale, and comes in a Standard Edition, available in physical and digital formats for €69.99 (RRP), as well as a Digital Deluxe Edition, available only in digital format for €79.99.
