According to the city council, the municipal health department notified the suspected case at noon on Thursday (16). The patient was admitted to the Zulmira Sedrim de Aguiar Hospital and Maternity Hospital on Wednesday (15), received medical care and remains in a stable condition.
Also, according to the city council, the patient had been in contact with someone who lives in São Paulo, a state that has already confirmed cases of monkeypox. “The municipal epidemiological surveillance has notified the Ministry of Health and continues to monitor the patient and communications,” Sidro City Council says.
According to Cedro City Hall, the Center for Strategic Information on Health Surveillance (CIEVS) reports that Ceará has four suspected cases of monkeypox.
Ceará’s health department has, so far, confirmed two notifications. The first, a resident of Fortaleza, was disposed of after an epidemiological and laboratory investigation, with a negative smallpox test. The other case was reported on June 7, from a resident of the Maracanay municipality in the Fortaleza metropolitan area. The patient denies traveling or contacting the forest. Updated information on this issue has not yet been released.
On the suspicion of Cedro, the Minister of Health of Ceará (Sesa) reported that he has not yet been officially notified, because the municipality is communicating directly with the Ministry of Health. However, Sesa reports that she has already submitted the guidelines to the municipality.
