After the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 200MP sensor, many rumors indicated that Samsung’s new foldable smartphones would also bring significant improvements in cameras.
However, these forecasts appear to have been overly optimistic. According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will retain the camera settings of the previous models.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will retain the camera setup from the previous generation
After Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 200MP sensor with new technology, there were many experts who suggested that the brand should also make significant improvements to the cameras of the next generation of foldable smartphones.
Some rumors have even advanced that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could arrive with a 108MP ultrawide sensor. But recent rumors about these foldable devices “tell another story”.
Leaker Yogesh Brar shared on the social network Twitter that both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will maintain the rear camera configuration of the previous generation models.
Although the number of pixels is not the only indicator of a terminal’s imaging capabilities, a higher resolution is always desirable, at least on a primary sensor.
But it looks like that won’t happen, and the Fold 5 will feature a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a 10MP telephoto sensor.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a dual camera setup with the primary sensor and the ultra-wide-angle sensor offering 12MP resolution each.
Exactly the same, in either case, for the resolutions offered by the sensors of previous generations.
And according to the also known monk, the news is that these could be new sensors. Which means that Samsung, despite maintaining the same resolution, can equip foldable devices with improved and more efficient sensors.
Samsung folds with a new processor and detailed mechanism
What definitely seems new is the new water drop hinge mechanism. Rumor has it that this new mechanism will help reduce the thickness of the equipment, as well as increase durability.
On the other hand, the models of the two new series of foldable devices will also be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, but in its version dedicated to the Galaxy platform. As is the case with the higher-end Galaxy S23 series.
Yogesh Brar has also developed that the Galaxy Z Fold 5, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5, will have larger external displays. With particular emphasis on the latter, which can jump from 1.9 inches to 3.4 inches.
Moreover, this information has already been provided by other leakers who are well known to the public.
