A Russian military commander drove Russia's valuable Pantsir missile system onto a railway bridge in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and has now been ordered to pay a hefty fine for the damage to the equipment.
The local military court ruled on the case, after a complaint filed by the Russian Ministry of Defense against the soldier, whose identity was not identified in court documents.
A judicial source told Newsweek that the case occurred on July 1, and it was decided on Friday that the person responsible for the army would pay a fine of about 500 euros, in addition to ensuring payment of part of the resulting damages. : More than 150 thousand euros.
The Pantsir-S1 system, one of the “jewels” in Putin’s military arsenal, has already been used several times by the Russian army in operations within the scope of the invasion of Ukraine. The commander ruled that part of the structure was not bent before driving the equipment under a railway bridge in St. Petersburg, as a result of which the part collided with the infrastructure, causing serious damage.
