Rudi Garcia wants Napoli to be effective in beating Braga with “quality” in the Champions League
Napoli coach Rudi Garcia said he wants a more effective team to face Sporting de Braga on Wednesday, in the first round of Group C of the Champions League.
In a conference marked by a bad start to the tournament in Italy, where the Italian champions had already lost five points (defeat to Lazio and draw with Genoa, results of the last two rounds), the French coach scored a point, however, to differentiate between the two competitions.
“A championship is a championship and champions are champions, but we wanted to be better [no campeonato]. “We are focusing on this match in order to win,” the coach said in the press conference to review the match, which began around 9:30 pm due to a delayed flight from Italy.
For Rudi Garcia, the solution lies in the team being “more effective” and remembering some of the missed opportunities in the last match.
“We have to shoot more and be more effective in defence. We conceded five goals from eight shots on target. If we conceded fewer chances, we would be better.”
Regarding Sporting de Braga, he said it was a “good” team.
“I know them well. Players who played in France, like Moutinho, Jose Fonte, Ronny Lopez, but also Roma or Abel Ruiz. There are people with quality and it will not be easy. We are playing away from home. We want to show.” He said: “Our determination from now on. The first minute is to get the three points.”
Five years ago, when he was coaching Marseille, he faced – and eliminated – Sporting de Braga in the round of 32 of the Europa League, a 3-0 win in France and a 1-0 defeat in Braga (goal by Ricardo). horta).
The coach rejected the idea that Napoli’s favoritism might lead to an increase in his team’s confidence: “We respect Sporting de Braga a lot and we are 100% committed.”
Rudi Garcia also discussed the current situation of strikers Victor Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia
“The whole team is important. Viktor is statistically closer to scoring a goal. I see him being calm and apprehensive about scoring a goal, which is something he has been for some time. He shouldn’t be thinking about the goal, it will come. Kvaratskhelia has too much.” Because he wanted to score, he scored a goal. He was injured. He should be calm.”
Sporting de Braga and Napolis will meet at eight o’clock this evening, Wednesday, at the Municipal Stadium of Braga, in a match moderated by Dutch referee Serdar Josubiuk.
