Río das Ostras, through the Health and Education secretariats, is developing procedures for the School Health Program – PSE. This week, the municipal schools Francisco de Assis Medeiros Rangel, in Parque Zabulao, and Agricola Carlos Mauricio Franco, in Cantagalo, received multidisciplinary teams for prevention, promotion and health rehabilitation practices.
In the procedures, participating professionals worked with guidelines on healthy eating, discussions on mental health, dental directives, vaccination status assessment, backpack use dynamics and body posture, among other health promotion topics.
All PSE actions are coordinated with the Program Person in Education, Professor of Nursing Silvia Mendez. Some of the suggested topics are environmental health, promoting physical activity, healthy eating and obesity prevention, and promoting a culture of peace and human rights.
“The PSE is a powerhouse, since the intersection of the sectors allows to connect the health network, the school network, the family network, social assistance, the community, enabling the exchange of knowledge, being firm in the face of the requests made, emphasizing the improvement of the quality of life of the population,” asserts Fernanda Peres, director of the Family Health Strategy, is one of the municipality’s program officials.
The number of units of the Municipal Education Network of Rio das Ostras approved in the School Health Program – PSE has increased in 2023. This year, there are 15 participating school units, totaling 4,153 students served.
School Health Program – PSE is a cross-sectoral strategy aimed at promoting the integrated development of public school students through health prevention, promotion and rehabilitation measures.
The procedures that are being developed have been agreed upon with the two federal entities, at one time, the Ministry of Health and the Education Department, with the Ministries of Health and Education.
In this way, family health teams, nurses, nursing technicians, community health agents, physicians, dentists, oral health aides and technicians, along with education professionals, who play a pivotal role in the success of the programme, develop health prevention measures, taking into account local planning, which He or she must consider the school and social context, local diagnoses in health, and operational capacity.
