1 July last princes William e Harry Statue unveiled in honor of Princess Mother للأم Diana, in Sunken Garden, in Kensington Palace. The date was not chosen at random: it was on that day, 60 years ago, that the Princess of Wales was born.
Created by sculptor Ian Rank Broadley, the statue shows the princess standing, flanked by three children and wearing a T-shirt, pencil skirt, and wide belt. Kensington Palace said in a statement that Diana’s character “She is surrounded by three children who represent the universality and generational influence of her work as a princess.”, While “The style of clothing was based on the latter period of her life, where she gained confidence in her role as an ambassador for humanitarian causes and aimed to convey her character and compassion”.
However, the costume does not seem to have come out of the sculptor’s imagination, but rather was based on a 1993 portrait of the princess. She can be seen in the statue. This image was used as a Christmas card for that year and has a special symbolism, as it was the first card of its kind sent after Charles and Diana separated, which is why the Prince of Wales is not included in the image.
