Five fetuses were found Wednesday in the basement of an anti-abortion activist by US police in Washington, DC.
According to NBC Washington, police entered the basement of the apartment of Lauren Handy, 28, to investigate evidence of dangerous biological materials in the home, the force said.
Upon entering the vault, customers encountered fetuses. The coroner’s team gathered them and launched an investigation to find out where they came from.
Lauren Handy is one of nine anti-abortion activists who have been accused of abusing federal civil rights after denying access to a reproductive clinic and recording the moment and posting it on social media.
The charges depict violations of federal law that defines free access to reproductive clinics, and prohibits the use of physical force to intimidate or interfere with a person seeking these health services. The law also prohibits property damage in abortion clinics and other reproductive health centers.
