“Health occupies an important place in the digital transformation process in Piaui, a state that has made great progress in the field of telemedicine and telehealth, and occupies an important place in the unified digital service.” This is how Health Minister Nicia Trindade outlined the development of digital health in Piaui, in a delegation from President Lula, at the closing ceremony of the 10th edition of the Federal Government Caravan in Teresina.
The country is one of the leading countries in the National Data Network (RNDS) federal project. The partnership between the Ministry of Health and the state government to expand digital health and telehealth in the municipality of Peribere has begun, and is represented in the caravan by the Minister of Health, Guilherme Lopez. When researching the Ministry’s position on this event, he obtained information about the management and financing of digital health.
“Through the caravan, we were able to answer questions from managers like Beriberi. Municipal teams are mobilized to come to the capital and discuss improvements for residents, which would not happen if everyone needed to go to Brasilia”. Health (CEDIGY).
Just like Peribere, the Ministry of Health welcomed other municipalities to the Teresina Convention Centre. During the entire event, 230 services were provided by all secretariats of the department who also answered questions about mental health, financing and transfer of financial resources, programs and strategies for primary health care in Piaui, which received an investment of R$ 15.4 million in 2024.
Another topic of great interest in the caravan is the New Axis Health Acceleration Program (PAC), which has already selected 60 businesses in the state, with a total investment of R$ 363 million. Among the works are basic health units (UBS), mobile dental units (UOM), polyclinics and maternity hospitals.
Through the convoy, the bureaucratic processes related to the PAC’s work were opened up, making it possible to proceed with the planning and implementation phases. This was the case of Delmilda Rigo, Uniao Municipal Councilor (PI), who expressed her gratitude for the direct contact with the various departments of the Ministry of Health in one place. “Here, in the convoy, I had the opportunity to closely understand the operations and ongoing work. In cooperation with the Ministry, I was able to identify where operations had stopped to continue and end them.
The event also allowed for the exchange of experiences and best practices between federal entities, which happened with the delegation of the municipality of Poretti dos Montes (PI). Mayor Olavo Jr. took his entire technical and advisory team to the convoy. “I have brought my technical staff and advisors to talk to the technical staff of the secretariats. They are the people who understand talking to the people who understand. This is a big step forward in the inter-union dialogue that only benefits the population,” Olavu stresses.

The Federal Caravan is an itinerant activity that travels through several Brazilian states, with the aim of bringing federal agencies closer to municipal managers.
Participants receive a personal service to clarify doubts, solve problems, request support and identify ways to improve the services provided in the municipalities.
The Ministry of Health actively participated in all editions of the caravan, totaling, together with other federal bodies, 24,600 services in 1,500 municipalities. The next state to host the event will be Pará on July 4-5, 2024.
