UOL – Pfizer filed its Covid CPI certification last year. What lessons can be learned from the investigation and from the relationship with the government?
Carlos Murillo – I think that we, as a society, have learned a lot, because the world has not gone through such a complex situation. [quanto a da pandemia] in the last hundred years. Most of the time, the issues are not “black and white”. The complexity of a country like Brazil makes things not easy.
At that time, there was a lot of ignorance. They wondered about the vaccine, how effective it would be, when it would arrive, and what the results would be.
For me, the biggest lesson I learned – and I think Brazil is an example of this – was the importance of cooperation between the different actors in society.
Pfizer played a major role in its vaccine, and so did the medical community, the government that did what it needed to do, and civil society that took the vaccine together where it needed to go.
I’ve used a lot, both outside and inside the company, the example of Brazil because it’s here [a imunização] It started slower for many reasons. But look where he is now.
What lessons can be learned from the COVID-19 crisis?
We have learned that in such a situation, strong health systems are essential, and health should be considered a priority. We re-prioritize our personal lives, but also our collective lives.
