Alô Saúde, from the State Department of Health (SES), through the School of Public Health (ESP-PB), also begins answering questions about smallpox in monkeys. The phone service, set up in April of this year, serves as an information channel for Paraíba residents about a range of health conditions, such as influenza syndromes and arboviruses.
The service operates Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the call can be made at: 0800 830010. Felipe Bruinso, General Manager of ESP-PB, explains how to handle situations related to monkeypox that the team in charge of Alô Sade will seek to answer These questions.
SES has prepared itself to face the problem and is constantly training professionals to identify cases and collect materials for testing. The training was conducted remotely and is still available on the institution’s official YouTube channel, to facilitate access for professionals who still have questions about the disease and clinical management protocol.
Paraíba also has an active emergency operations center (COE) to monitor and follow up on monkeypox in the state, with weekly meetings to identify strategies to help and contain the disease. A technical group that includes professionals with different experiences in the health field is part of the COE.
As of the last update, 140 suspected cases of monkeypox had been reported in Paraíba. Of those, 7 have been confirmed, 65 have been discarded and 68 are still under investigation.
