Modernization
Blizzard has worked late into the night to try and respond to the DDoS attack that is preventing players from accessing Overwatch 2, but is still trying to resolve the situation and make it playable.
Game Director Aaron Keeler reported 5 hours ago that teams at Blizzard stayed up at night to solve this issue, but a second DDoS attack complicated matters and millions of players are still waiting to play OVerwatch 2.
This wasn’t the desired way to celebrate the launch of Overwatch 2 and improvements are expected throughout the day, but the start of the game was marked by this unfortunate occurrence.
We’re making steady progress with server and stability issues, as well as working through a second DDoS attack. We are all on board and going to work all night. Thank you for your patience – we’ll share more information as it becomes available.

Today was the much-anticipated day for thousands of players, the day of the arrival of Overwatch 2, which was immediately marked as servers down due to a DDoS attack.
Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard, said the company is working hard to get servers back up.
“Unfortunately, we are experiencing a massive DDoS attack on our servers. Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of downtime/connection issues.”
