The vice president of the regional government today congratulated Madeira as the first region in the country to receive European bazooka money, but says this is because the regional government was quick to act.
“I would like to explain very well what is going on. There are two forms of funding. This budget from REACT-EU is just a reprogramming of EU funds from OP 14-20, which is now coming to an end. Why is Madeira the first to receive? Because Madeira was The first to introduce the reprogramming program at the national level,” the deputy head of the regional government stated.
On June 6, JM already announced that under the REACT-EU (Aid and Recovery Initiative for the Cohesion of European Territories) €64 million had been approved for Madeira, but Expresso said today that the first check from this initiative, in the amount of €5.4 million, She has already arrived in the country, and it all belongs to Madeira.
“We did our duty and today we have this recognition, that we were the first region to receive the advance payment envelope. There are about 5.4 million euros, and this money will be used in government coffers to restore the progress made since January of this year,” he explained.
“What we are waiting for is that from the end of the summer of this year, the distribution of the first tranches of the Resolution and Resiliency (PRR) plan can also begin,” added Pedro Calado.
It should be noted that the European bazooka is the sum of REACT-EU and PRR.
