Users continue to overcrowd Benavente SAP due to lack of healthy responses
The Benavente Chamber is waiting to schedule a meeting with the entity’s director, Pedro Casado Espanhol. User committees and municipalities served by the Tagus Estuary Health Center Group were unable to speak to the person responsible.
The Benavente City Council has requested a meeting with Executive Director of the Community of Health Centers of the Estuary of the Tagus River (ACES) Pedro Casado Espanhol, but has not yet received any response. The Benavente Permanente Care Service (SAP) remains overcrowded and has a shortage of health professionals. “Santa Casa da Misericórdia appointed doctors on schedule, but it was not easy. I remember they were doctors or retired workers,” Benavente Vice Mayor Catarina Valle told O MIRANTE.
On August 22, the municipality met with the supplier Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Benavente. The Foundation is studying in collaboration with the municipality the model implemented in Azambuja to alleviate the shortage of family doctors which includes a public-private partnership, in an agreement to be concluded with the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of Lisbon and Tagus Valley.
The user committees in the municipalities served by ACES have not yet been able to meet with the Executive Director, despite requests, and the same is happening with local authorities in the entity’s area of influence, according to what O MIRANTE reported from several sources. The ACES Secretariat responded to the Municipality of Benavente and the Benavente User Committee saying that the meeting will be scheduled when the CEO returns from vacation.
