Kate Winslet can’t forget the criticisms leveled at her physical appearance, especially the weight she was carrying when she made the movie “Titanic”.
Earlier this month, during an interview about her reunion with director James Cameron on “Avatar: Walk of Water,” the actress recalled that the question her agent was asked the most when she was young was: “How are you?” her weight? “
The topic came back during an interview with Happy Sad Confused Podcastwhen he recalled one of the biggest controversies of the 1997 film: If the port, floating in icy waters, after the ship sank, couldn’t hold Rose and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio)?
To end the discussion, James Cameron recently revealed that he has prepared a “little special” that will be available on the National Geographic Channel in February 2023 that will scientifically prove that Jack could not have gotten out of this situation alive, both due to hypothermia and the weight of the two.
Based on the experience she’s gained in the meantime in water sports, the actress is of the same opinion: Jack could fit in a door, but she’d be unsteady with the two of them on top and end up in the icy water.
But then the actress seems to recall some comments from 1997 and adds, “And apparently, I was very fat.”
“Isn’t that terrible? Why were they so mean to me? They were so mean. I wasn’t even fat,” she recalls.
Journalist Josh Horowitz responded that she, at least, had the consolation of being nominated for the Oscars, to which she replied, “Lucky me.”
“But it’s so weird. If I could turn back the clock, I would have used my voice in a completely different way. I would have told reporters, I would have answered ‘Don’t you dare treat me that way. ‘” I’m a young woman, my body is changing, I’m aware of things, I feel deeply insecure, I’m terrified, don’t make this any harder than it already is. This is bullying, it’s actually almost offensive,” he says, reinforcing on the subject.
