The area already has a sign indicating the importance of conscious disposal of waste, but residents do not respect it.
Jornal Terceira Visão recently received a complaint about the irregular disposal of tires, especially from motorcycles, on the edge of Vice Mayor Anicio Capovilla’s street, near the Condominio Bosque do Frutal, in Valinhos, in the Villa Capoava neighborhood. In addition to tires, remains of furniture, wood and other materials were also found. This type of disposal is alarming and disrespectful, as it encourages the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits diseases such as dengue, Zika and chikungunya, in addition to attracting toxic animals.
In response to residents’ concerns, we questioned Valinhos City Council’s advice on the situation. The city municipality, through the Public Services Secretariat, sent a responsible team that carried out a new cleaning operation at the site, which is a public area. The procedure included garbage collection, material collection and bush clearing.
The area already has a sign advising the importance of conscious waste disposal. Furthermore, City Hall highlights Operation Kata Bagulho, which travels through neighborhoods across the city to collect unusable materials, and the availability of recycling bins for proper disposal and collection of household waste.
The city of Valinhos reinforces its request for residents’ support in the fight against dengue fever, a disease that has claimed thousands of victims throughout Brazil. The municipal administration also confirms its commitment to inspection procedures, the use of drones, reinforcement teams, spraying operations in neighborhoods, and intensifying health care.
It is important to remember that the role of residents is irreplaceable and essential in this battle, as more than 80% of mosquito-borne infestations occur in backyards. Everyone’s cooperation is necessary to keep the city clean and disease-free.
