Influenza cases are on the rise in eastern Minas and have alarmed health authorities in Timoteo, in the Valle do Aco and in Govnador Valadares in the Valle de Rio Doce. At the Valadares Municipal Polyclinic, in the triage room, it is possible to see many patients through the glass windows on Rui Barbosa and São João in the city center. All with flu-like symptoms.
SMS-GV directs people to seek health facilities if they have flu-like symptoms. “There, the entire team is ready to provide quality care to the residents and, if necessary, refer the patient to the specialized health services of the municipality,” SMS-GV informed, in a statement.
Cases of influenza syndrome in Valadares have not developed into serious cases, according to SMS-GV, which also reported that in December, 30 cases of respiratory syncytial virus and 3 cases of H3N2 were recorded. In the same period last year, the municipality reported only one case of influenza.
SMS guidelines state that in cases of influenza syndrome, a person should maintain usual care, while using masks and social isolation to prevent the spread of the virus.
Timoteo expands the service
In Timóteo, this Thursday (12/30), SMS inaugurated the Influenza Vaccination Task Force in João Otávio Health Center, as a reinforcement for the UPA team, Vital Brazil Hospital and Maternity Hospital, from Timirim District. The activities of this task force will be extended until January 28, 2022.
The Municipal Health Minister, Eduardo Morris, warned that in this way, those who did not receive a dose of the vaccine in this year of 2021 can look for the João Otavio Health Center, on Thursday, or the mentioned health units. From Monday 3 January 2022.
For urgent cases, the minister said people with severe flu-like symptoms should look for UPA Geraldo dos Reis Ribeiro, in Bairro Primavera, or Maternity Vital Brazil Hospital, in Timirim. Because of the surge in flu cases, the two institutions have beefed up their teams to help residents with more severe symptoms.
“We are counting on the awareness of the population to look for a health unit to receive the vaccination, given that not only in Vale do Aço but throughout Minas Gerais there have been significant increases in influenza cases,” he said.
