Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) has been released for PC and can be downloaded for free on Steam. The first-person shooter isn’t quite as heavy, but it can run more “smoothly” depending on the graphics settings chosen. The user can monitor the frame rate per second, or “frames per second,” to see how the game is running, which can be useful for monitoring your computer’s performance during matches. Find out below how to see frames per second in CS2 and check out some tips to improve your experience.

During the beta phase of Counter-Strike 2, frames per second were displayed via command. However, this option has been removed and is not expected to return. Now, it is possible to see the frames per second of the game as follows:
Step 1. Open CS2 on your computer;
Step 2. On the keyboard, press the Shift and Tab keys at the same time;
Step 3. Access CS2 settings by clicking on the gear icon;
Step 4. In the “In-Game” tab, select the “FPS Counter” option and change it from “Do not display” to one of the other desired positions;
In this case, we choose the “Top Left” option. During testing, CS2 ran at 120 frames per second, which varies depending on the power of your computer.
How to improve CS2 performance
If Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) is running at an FPS lower than 30, it means your computer may not have the minimum requirements or something is taking up too much memory or processing. So, it is always better to check if your device meets the requirements of the game before downloading it.
Also, if your computer is still fine, try closing other programs while running CS2. Browsers tend to use a lot of memory, as do voice chat programs, like Discord. Try restarting your computer before you start playing if you encounter problems, and close programs that start automatically when Windows starts. All of this can help mitigate the FPS drop, but it doesn’t solve the problem completely.
