A training session on monkeypox for professionals of the Public Health Network was held in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, on Thursday (4). According to the city council, the event was held by the Department of Health Surveillance and the College of Health of the municipality, with the aim of addressing the characteristics of the disease and drawing an epidemiological panorama.
The municipal administration adds that materials have also been distributed to collect biological materials for laboratory analysis. This was the second monkeypox training conducted by the Santos Department of Health. Last Wednesday (3), the same information was transmitted over the Internet to specialists in the private network.
“This training is of paramount importance to alert the entire team and relevant professionals, and to identify cases as quickly as possible, so that the patient is isolated early, taken to hospital or released for home isolation, if necessary,” said Head of Epidemiology Department of Surveillance (Seviep), Willian Fioratti, in content published by the municipality.
According to the city’s health minister, Adriano Catapreta, there is no reason to panic. At the moment, we have four confirmed cases of the disease, all without seriousness. We continue to monitor these patients until the end of the home isolation, in addition to monitoring the other four suspects, who have already been quarantined.”
