This week, Joinville City Hall has started a campaign inviting residents to join the Joinville Against Dengue Mutirão, which will be held in all areas of the city, on Saturday (1/4). The campaign is shown in large-scale communication vehicles and also on the social networks of the town hall.
“On Saturday we will be united in this mutirão strategy, but it is important to stress that this is an ongoing work involving the entire population. Students will also receive educational materials to take home and help fight Aedes aegypti. In addition, our team remains fully focused on The necessary measures to prevent and eliminate the spread of mosquitoes, ”says the mayor, Adriano Silva.
Among the strategies that the population can adopt is the “10 minutes against dengue”. In practice, the materials provide guidance on actions each person can take to eliminate potential breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which also transmits chikungunya fever, Zika virus, and yellow fever.
The most recent edition of the Aedes aegypti (Lira) Rapid Index Survey indicated that the largest number of mosquito infestations occurred in backyards in Joinville. Therefore, every Joinvilense is invited for a backyard inspection.
“We call it 10 minutes against dengue, because that’s really the time a resident needs to set aside per week to do inspections around their home and eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites. These are simple measures and with them you can keep mosquitoes and dengue fever away from the family and the whole community,” explains Andrzej Kolaski, Joinville Minister of Health.
The first care is to get rid of the backyard, grounds or housing, all kinds of trash, debris and containers in which water can accumulate. This applies to objects of all sizes, from bottle caps to used bottle parts on top of walls, among other things. Old tires and other items should be stored in dry places protected from rain.
Other measures should also be taken:
– Sealed water tanks
– Completely clean the gutters
– Gallons, drums, wells, airtight drums
– Tires without water and in covered places
– Empty bottles and buckets upside down
– Cleaning and screening of drains
– Air conditioning in a clean tray without water
– Vegetable dishes filled with sand to the brim
– Bromeliads and other plants without accumulating water
Unused toilets are always closed
– Well stretched roofing sheets to avoid puddles of water
– Swimming pool water must be chlorinated and covered with chlorine
Check and change the fountain water
