The Public Prosecution Office (MP) filed an indictment against a former technical assistant in the supplementary service in Nazareth on suspicion of embezzlement and the receipt of unnecessary user fees.
According to a memo from the Coimbra Public Prosecutor’s Office, the facts occurred in 2019, with the technical assistant charged with “seizure of amounts paid by users, as user fees”.
The defendant “comes from a municipality in the Central District” and was at that time subject to the internal mobility regime “working in the Complementary Care Service of Nazaré, affiliated with the West-North Health Centers Group (ACES)”.
Aware of the dialysis clinic’s interest in referring patients in the ACES West North intervention area, “the defendant contacted the director of that clinic insinuating that she could intervene on her behalf,” read on the MP’s website.
Days later, the accusation issued on Friday adds, that the woman “asked the aforementioned manager to hand over sums of money, without the existence of a close relationship or legal context between them to justify such a request,” which the official rejected. from the clinic.
After the indictment, loss of benefits was requested and the additional penalty of prohibition from exercising functions was imposed on the defendant.
The investigation was carried out by the Regional Criminal Investigations and Procedures Department (DIAP) in Coimbra.
