Two more shipments of IFA are scheduled to arrive at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fucruz) in May. The first batch should arrive at the Institute of Technology in Immunobiology (Bio-Manguinhos) on the 22nd and the other batch is expected on the 29th. The information was published by the institute on Thursday (13).
Fiocruz’s already available IFA quantity will support production through the middle of next week, ensuring delivery through the first week of June. “With the new shipments, delivery will be guaranteed in the first three weeks of June,” Fiucruz said.
On Friday (14), another 4.1 million doses of the vaccine against covid-19 of AstraZeneca, produced by Fiocruz in Brazil, are expected to be submitted to the Ministry of Health, with a total of 34.3 million vaccines supplied to the National Immunization Program (PNI)), i.e. Equivalent to more than 40% of the COVID-19 vaccines available in the country.
Until Eva arrives on the 22nd, there will be a break in production for a few days next week. If there is any impact on deliveries, it will be evaluated and reported later. The delivery schedule remains weekly, always on Fridays, as agreed with the Ministry of Health, according to the distribution logistics specified in the portfolio, ”the Foundation informed.
According to Fiocruz, one million doses of vaccine are processed daily at the Vaccine Technology Center – CTV in Bio-Manguinhos, and the foundation continues to evaluate alternatives to increase this capacity.
