In the UK, British employers have been facing the worst labor shortages since the late 1990s, after a sharp drop in the number of foreign workers due to Govt-19 and Brexit, the Guardian reported.
According to data from the Federation of Recruitment and Employment (REC) and KPMG, the number of workers fell sharply from 1997 to June.
Recruitment agencies are reporting various challenges in hiring in various sectors of the economy, especially in the areas of transport and logistics, hospitality, manufacturing and construction.
“We need business and government action to re-empower and improve workers (…) Now more than ever, the growing capacity gap in the workforce has the potential to slow the UK economic recovery,” explained Claire Warns of KPMG UK.
Employers face additional problems as EU workers travel less to Britain due to the urgency of reopening the country through deregulation, the Covid-19 border restrictions and post-immigration regulations.-Exclusion from government.
According to a study by REC and KPMG, which includes more than 400 recruitment agencies, a sharp increase in hiring demand led to an unprecedented decline in candidate availability in June.
