The brand Altice Portugal was awarded the “Best in Test – Mobile Internet” award from DECO PROTESTE, according to information disclosed today that the comparative study is based on objective and independent analyzes, based on the real experience of consumers who have used the QualRede application.
MEO is placed at the top of the overall score in 2G/3G/4G with a score of 23,219 points. The result results from the average results obtained in various parameters measured with the help of 46,000 users who have previously used QualRede: download and upload speed, web browsing and streaming tests.
QualRede is a free and collaborative application, which means that its efficiency increases depending on the number of people who use it. The application is the result of a collaboration between DECOPROTESTE and 4Gmark, a network quality testing company, and each consumer decides when and where to run a network test.
The application anonymously records the test results, location and type of connection used. This data is used to update an interactive map showing the quality of mobile networks in Portugal.
Note that the application uses a different method than that used for traditional speed tests, as it simulates the real user experience through a scenario that combines several tests called “full test”.
The project was launched in 2016 and SAPO TEK has already tested it. Rita Rodriguez, Head of Media and Public Affairs at DECO PROTESTE, stated that the tool “has achieved tremendous growth in terms of users and it is reflected in the correctness of the data”.
“The main idea is to help consumers choose an efficient mobile network in their area of residence and work,” says Rita Rodrigues. “This year MEO excelled, and got the best results in the average of all parameters.”
Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Altice, recognizes excellence and states that MEO’s leadership is the result of a strategy that “takes the customer as the main focus and quality of service as the cornerstone of the investment.”
“Altice Portugal clearly understands that these investments are essential for individuals and companies and for the development of the country. Through massive and continuous investment in communication networks, we want to continue enabling Portugal and the Portuguese for your digital transformation,” he justifies, quoted in a statement.
