“Cyberpunk 2077”, developed by CD Projekt Red, is about to get a major update with the “Phantom Liberty” expansion. The new film includes a trailer and a behind-the-scenes video, highlighting the participation of actor Idris Elba (The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs & Shaw).
“Solomon Reed is a complex and intriguing person,” Elba said of his character in the video, without explaining how he fits into the narrative. The preview offers glimpses of the story, which takes place seven years before the events of the new expansion, and shows Red speaking to Songbird before being ambushed on a train leaving Night City.
In addition to Elba, the expansion will include the return of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, who continues to play an important role, directly linked to solving a problem caused by his chip.
The “Matrix” and “John Wick” star was the poster boy for the original game’s launch in 2020, helping its sales success. However, the game quickly became a champion of complaints, thanks to bugs and performance issues. The situation took a dramatic turn with lawsuits and official apologies from CD Projekt Red, and the game’s reputation was only saved with the release of an anime derivative on Netflix called “Cyberpunk: Expendables” (Edgerunners), which surpassed it in popularity. The game brought new interested parties to a more stable version of the game, which recorded an increase in the number of concurrent players.
Gameplay details
Another big addition to “Phantom Liberty” is Dogtown, an isolated area close to the Pacific Rim that is not controlled by the police.
But the expansion is not limited to bringing new characters, scenarios, and missions. CD Projekt Red promised significant new improvements to gameplay and abilities. The company introduced the “Relic Skill Tree” exclusive to “Phantom Liberty,” as well as the “Build Planner,” a free tool that allows players to shape their characters in advance.
The system has been redesigned to make your character building experience more dynamic, as well as making the interface less confusing and reducing the number of skills that only change combat statistics – such as life, speed, and critical hit chance.
“Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty” is scheduled to be released on September 26 and will be compatible with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series Update 2.0, packed with new features, can also be downloaded for free by users of the original game days before the expansion’s launch.
