On Tuesday, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo announced his contract with Manchester United to return to the English club from Juventus, for an amount that could reach $ 27 million, according to British newspapers.
“Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract with the option to extend for another year, subject to an international mandate,” the club said in a statement.
British media reported that the deal could bring a maximum of 23 million euros to Juventus.
The 36-year-old Portuguese gained international fame during the six years he played with the “Red Devils”, from 2003 to 2009, before signing with Real Madrid.
In his first phase with the English club, CR7 scored 118 goals in 292 matches, winning the first of his five Golden Balls and the Champions League, as well as three titles in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Ronaldo said, according to a United statement, “Manchester United is a club that has always held a special place in my heart. I am impressed with all the messages I’ve received since Friday’s announcement. Fans once again.”
“I am looking forward to joining the team after the international matches and I hope we have a very successful season.”
“De Ronaldo’s return shows the appeal of this club and I’m very happy to have him back home where it all began,” said United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who played alongside the Portuguese in his previous spell in England.
CR7 will make his second home appearance for the Red Devils against Newcastle on September 11th.
