On Monday, 19/08/2024, the Secretary for International Relations of the State of Ceará, Roseane Medeiros, attended the visit of the Minister of Energy Security and Net Zero of the United Kingdom, Ed Miliband, to Ceará. The delegation met with Governor Elmano de Freidas to discuss strategic issues for the state, along with United Kingdom Consul General to Brazil Tony Kay and Director of Government Relations and Trade at the British Consulate, Larissa Brusky.
During the meeting, educational policies that make Ceará a national highlight were discussed, including possible partnerships for teaching the English language. The United Kingdom’s experience in renewable energy production, particularly in offshore wind energy, was a central theme of the discussions, demonstrating both countries’ commitment to sustainability.
In the morning, the delegation visited the Port of Besem, where they learned about local infrastructure and development projects, including a future green hydrogen hub. The visit reinforced the importance of Ceará in the global renewable energy scenario and opened new doors for international cooperation.
