The Royal House released the official portrait of Kings Charles III and Camilla this Monday afternoon, as three days of celebrations for the coronation of monarchs draw to a close. This photo was posted with a message from the king and individual photos of the two have also been previously shared.
“My wife and I just want to share our deepest and most sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this occasion special,” reads the king’s message accompanying the photo.
The King also expresses his gratitude for the “support and encouragement” and adds that witnessing “kindness expressed in so many different ways, was the greatest possible coronation gift”. The King also says he and the Queen will “re-dedicate” their lives “to serving the people of the United Kingdom, the kingdoms and the Commonwealth”.
As Coronation Week draws to a close, my wife and I just wanted to share our most sincere thanks to all those who helped make this a special occasion.

These official photos were taken at Buckingham Palace, after the coronation ceremony, by Hugo Bernand, the official coronation photographer, as you can read On the Royal House website. The King is depicted in the Throne Room, seated in a chair from 1902, with mantle of state, imperial state crown, and the scepter of the monarch.
Queen Camilla is depicted in the Green Room standing, wearing the mantle of state and Queen Mary’s crown. In this photo, the symbolism-filled dress created by fashion designer Bruce Oldfield and the coronation necklace stand out.
The coronation celebrations for Charles III and Camilla began on Friday afternoon, with a reception at Buckingham Palace for a large number of guests, including Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The coronation ceremonies were held all Saturday morning, with the pomp and circumstance which this solemn event demanded.
The last image shows the monarchs accompanied by members of the royal family working for the crown. From left to right we can see the Duke of Kent, the Dukes of Gloucester, Sir Tim Lawrence and Princess Anne, Kings Charles and Camilla, the Princes of Wales and the Dukes of Edinburgh with Princess Alexandra, the Honorable Lady Ogilvy, at the center of both.
With the exception of Princess Anne, all senior female members of the royal family have followed the tradition of wearing white. However, at the coronation ceremony, the covers did not allow us to see the dresses and this photo shows, for the first time, the choices of Kate and Sophie in particular. The Princess of Wales chose a white crepe dress, signed by Sarah Burton for the home of Alexander McQueen, just like her wedding dress. It was already known that the garment was embroidered with floral motifs representing the four kingdoms of the United Kingdom: the rose, thistle, daffodil and clover of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, respectively. In this photograph, the princess can also be seen for the first time wearing George VI’s three-strand necklace, a form of tribute to Elizabeth II, which was also hidden under the blue and red veil worn during the ceremony.
Hugo Bernand was announced as the official photographer for the coronation ceremony last February. He was also responsible for the official wedding photos of Carlos and Camila in 2005, and of William and Kate in 2011.
