The UK Government is seeking to extend its support to the forestry sector in Brazil through one or more technical assistance and training projects aimed at supporting the National Trust for Indigenous Peoples (Funai) in strengthening regional land management Indigenous Peoples (TIs). The initiative will be carried out through the Brazil-UK PACT National Program (Partnership for Accelerated Climate Change) and linked to the UK-Brazil Partnership for Green and Inclusive Growth launched in May 2023.
A public call for proposals is available on the BR-UK PACT website, and funding of up to £1,200,000 will be awarded over 24 months. The main objective of the program is to guarantee the conservation, recovery, protection and sustainable use of natural resources in indigenous lands and territories in Brazil. The focus will be on three pillars:
Pillar 1: Regularization of TI land
Pillar 2: IT environment and regional management
Pillar 3: Training of Indigenous Peoples
