The second edition of Girls on Track – Rising Stars is already in its first preparations. The International Automobile Federation announced, Tuesday (31), the list of 28 pilots selected for this year and the return of Brazilian Julia Ayoub and Antonella Bassani.
After a successful first season, Maya and Yuj are crowned as the first female Ferrari Drivers Academy, the second trial brings news: Now, two drivers will be selected: Novice, with kart support, and senior F4.
Just like last year, national authorities around the world have nominated names for the FIA. After receiving 71 applications from 28 different countries, the FIA Commission for Women in Motorsports selected 28 names – 14 from each category – covering 16 different countries. In the first stage, the contestants will take part in a shootout from October 21-23 in Paul Ricard.
Then, eight junior participants and eight senior participants will be drawn into two different training camps, one for kart and one for F4, immediately after the penalty shootout. After that, each of the four finalists will go to the Ferrari Academy and Kart Camps.
The Grand Winners of the Junior Selective category will participate in the international kart season with the financial support of Ferrari Academy. For the senior selected, she will become the second woman to join the Italian team’s programme, as well as Weug, who is currently racing with Iron Dames in F4.
Brazilians Ayoub and Bassani returned to the selection in the second edition. The two drivers, both experienced in the international kart, reached the final of the first edition, being one of the top four drivers of the programme.
