The passage through Thailand was marked by a heavy defeat (0-4) against Pathum United.
Borussia Dortmund suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Pathum United in the first match of the Asian tour, with visits to Thailand and Japan after a 1-1 draw with Aoi, who are still in Germany, and the team now led by Nuri Sahin – whose Portuguese assistant Joao Tralhao is working – fell hard in Bangkok.
With players like Brandt, Sulli, Adeyemi, Sulli, Moukoko, Nmecha and Ryerson in the 11th minute, the game started with a goal from Lorenzen (14th minute) for the Thais. Before the end of the first half, the home side extended their lead through Dangda (44). Both teams made ten substitutions in the first half, and Haller was the only big name from Dortmund to come on in the second half. The scenario changed little or nothing. Wongjorn (65th and 88th) scored twice and increased the result, which was more than a surprise and became a real humiliation.
Borussia Dortmund are still waiting for several of their best players to return from their international duty. Nuri Sahin’s side still have three pre-season friendly matches scheduled. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday against Japanese side Cerezo Osaka. The squad then return home to face Villarreal on August 6, before playing Aston Villa on August 10. The Bundesliga kicks off on August 24 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
