Slovenian Jazz Biden played his last professional match at Roland Garros on Friday. The 32-year-old tennis player has decided to retire from professional tennis to devote himself to managing football players across Europe.
Biden spoke with the Serbian newspaper Sport Club before facing Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Roland Garros tournament and reaching his third defeat against the world number one without winning any set.
For the newspaper, Biden called the 2022 season his “last dance” and explained how he faced this farewell process: “I decided last season that this would be my ‘last dance’. I hope the results will be the best, even though I won” playing a lot of tournaments. I haven’t trained as much as I used to, because I have other jobs, but I love tennis and feel good about the ball. It feels very good to me.”
Since 2008, Biden came to defend the UK flag (where he lived) for 4 seasons, but returned to play for his country of origin considering the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, for which he did not qualify. His best ATP ranking so far was 43rd in the world in February 2018.
Having lived his entire career against the so-called “Big Three” (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic), Biden told Sport Klopp how he sees these competitors end their careers: “I think there are only two of them in the race (for the best in history ok, Federer plays tennis better for sure, but I think Noel will be the player with the most championships and other Masters. In the end, he will be the player – the goats.”
When asked if he already knows what he will do after his retirement, Biden commented, “I already know what I’m going to do, I love tennis and football. I’m working on some projects in this field, let’s see how it ends. Davis with Estonia, that’s it for me.” I know many athletes who have finished their careers, so they didn’t know what to do with themselves, so they couldn’t … I wish I wasn’t that person, so I’m already doing other things that interest me and I hope that everything will be fine in the end, “he admitted He has worked with the Sports and Football Marketing Agency.
