The “Server or Benfica” movement confirms that it can Resorting to a “lawsuit”, to view the extraordinary general assembly held, as ، Record I applied on the 7th of July. In an open letter addressed to the President of the General Assembly, Antonio Perez Andrade, and posted on Facebook, the promise of a magnificent meeting was recalled and the resignation of Rui Pereira’s successor was called for.
“‘Servir o Benfica’ requires, for the foregoing, the immediate resignation of Mr. Antonio Perez de Andrade from the position, due to the apparent inability to live up to the moment that Sport Lisbon and Benfica are in,” it read. With the argument that the MAG leader, “by not calling the required extraordinary meeting, misses the opportunity for partners,” the movement disagrees: “the lack of justification for these positions and decisions, silence on any impediment raised by the board or health authorities and interruption in dialogue The previously established between ‘Servir o Benfica’ and the General Assembly Council are aggravatingly objectionable: they limit the healthy participation of members in the club’s citizenship, driving the process into a potential, undesirable legal dispute, which is becoming more and more inevitable.”
This is the full open letter:
“Dear President, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Meeting of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Antonio Perez de Andrade;
“Server or Benfica” refers, in an open letter, to the words addressed by Your Excellency to the members in a statement issued on 29 June 2021, affirming the commitment to schedule the EGM for the requested month of July. Such a commitment failed. Legal deadlines do not allow for the appointment of the extraordinary general assembly meeting during the current month.
The impossibility of fulfilling the word given to the members of the club was the reason for the resignation of Prof. Dr. Rui Pereira from the post. Honey. Mr. Antonio Perez de Andrade, by not calling the requested extraordinary meeting, fails to speak to the members, making it impossible for them to exercise their rights and not respecting the statute whose main task is to enforce. The lack of justification for these positions and decisions, the silence regarding any impediment raised by the Board of Directors or the health authorities, the interruption of the previously established dialogue between Servir o Benfica and the Council of the General Assembly are all aggravating and unacceptable. They limit members’ healthy participation in the club’s citizenship, and push the process toward a final legal dispute that, if unwelcome, appears inevitable.
“Servir o Benfica” requires, for the above, the immediate resignation of Mr António Pires de Andrade from the position, due to the apparent inability to rise to the moment in which Sport Lisboa e Benfica is experiencing. It is further required that the Bureau of the General Assembly ensure that the date of the Extraordinary General Assembly meeting is scheduled as soon as possible so that the electoral regulation becomes a reality, which also requires the announcement of an objective deadline for the holding of the General Assembly meeting for elections after approval of the regulation.”
