In a question that will be put to Parliament and directed to the Ministry of Health, the BE parliamentary group highlighted that “the process of appointing the Director General of Health is very ambiguous” and therefore requires “clarifications and transparency.”
The bloc wonders how the Recruitment and Selection Committee for Public Administration (CReSAP) did not recognize the merit of the candidates, including the former and current Deputy Director-General of Health.
“If so, it is either a problem for DGS deputy directors or a problem for Cresap ratings. What is certain is that this whole situation seems to have helped the government, which has been able to appoint whoever it wants, months after the replacement process began.”
As JN reported, the appointment of the new Director General of Health, Rita Sa Machado, is sparking great controversy and accusations of lack of transparency on the part of public health doctors. With former Health Minister Adalberto Campos Fernández demanding to know the technical justifications that led to the exclusion of candidates with strong CVs. The Public Security Directorate also asked the government for clarifications.
It will be recalled that the Commission on Recruitment and Selection for Public Administration (CReSAP) reported last week that the competition had ended without finding three “worthy” names to propose to the government. Thus, the selection was made by Manuel Pizarro, who hired Rita Sa Machado, having previously sent her CV for evaluation and obtaining a non-binding opinion from CReSAP.
The bloc now wants to know how many people applied in the latest competition; Knowledge of the evaluation conducted by CReSAP, which did not recognize merit in the majority of applications; Learn about the assessment made of the appointed Director-General of Health who will take office this week.
JN learns that current Deputy Director-General of Health, Andres Peralta Santos, who replaced Graça Freitas months ago, and former Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Health Rui Portugal, have also applied. Everyone meets the competition requirements.
