Left Bloc (BE) on Friday denounced the lack of conditions at the Personal Health Care Unit (UCSP) in Salvatierra de Magos, saying there had been an outbreak of rats and cockroaches.
The complaint arose following a visit by the Deputy Business Office elected by the Department of Santarem, Fabiola Cardoso, to that unit, where the situation was ‘Unsustainable’ and ‘demonstrates the need to invest in the National Health Service (SNS),” he said in a press release.
According to the deputy, “it is in these situations that the results of the savings policy of the Socialist Party government are realized.”
Fabiola Cardoso also directed the case to the Ministry of Health, stating that “the infestation of rodents and other pests, such as cockroaches, harms furniture and medical equipment within the infrastructure.”
In the document, Blocist explains that the situation “related to rehabilitation that began in June 2021 and was intended to expand the restroom for people with disabilities,” work that has since been put on hold.
On the note it is also read that the downtime will “leave two tubes exposed”, which would be the root of the problem.
The deputy also pointed out that there was a “very damaged locker in the dental services room,” he claimed.due to water leakage‘, a situation ‘continuous since 2019’.
The bloc’s delegation included, in addition to Fabiola Cardoso, Municipal Councilor Luis Gomez, mayor Luis Pereira and member of the Salvatierra de Magos and Foros de Salvatierra family unit, Angelo Silva.
The group was greeted by the coordinator of that unit, Tiago Rodrigues.
According to the NHS website, Salvaterra de Magos UCSP merges the Fosso, Glória do Ribatejo and Marinhais centers and has a total of seven doctors, 13 nurses, 12 clinical secretaries and nine operational assistants.
