The Portuguese Football Federation has confirmed that, as of March 31, Thiago Craveiro will leave his duties as Director General of the organization, a position he has held for ten years, to start a new professional experience at UEFA.
Speaking to the FPF website, President Fernando Gómez hailed the “10 years of dedication of Thiago Craveiro”, an “exceptional professional” who “rightfully saw his unique global vision for the sport and his ability to implement highly complex projects on his part. The current EU President » .
Fernando Gomez reveals that Aleksander Ceferin was “challenging” Thiago Craveiro to “follow a new path” in UEFA, a path postponed by “Tiago Craveiro’s sense of responsibility and loyalty towards me and the FPF in the full management of the sport in a time of pandemic”.
“I am absolutely sure that Thiago Craveiro will honor Portuguese and Portuguese football, which is now the most important continental organization for our sport,” concluded the FPF President.
Ceferin was also “confident that Tiago Craveiro will be an essential asset for UEFA’s strategic affairs, now and in the future”. FPF has been an exemplary model of a modern federation, well managed, with clear vision and strategic planning. Luis Sobral, an FPF professional since 2015, was appointed by Fernando Gomez to perform the duties of General Manager, with Mafalda Urbano remaining as Deputy General Manager.
