Estrella da Amadora is having happy days. The club returned to professional competitions, after completing its promotion to the second league, and this Saturday officially starts in 2021/2022. The game refers to the League Cup, it is true, but the tricolor wants to start in the best possible way and move forward in the competition. They will likely have a tough time, as the League Cup first-round draw forced a game against Vizella, but Amadora’s logo coach Rui Santos is confident in his work package.
“We had a shorter pre-season than usual, as last season was very long, as a result of our trip and as such we had to speed up the process and training in the Algarve was very important. I feel the team is ready, we trust all the players on the team, and those who play against Vizella are sure to honor Estrella da Amadora. We know it won’t be an easy game… but for Visella, it won’t be.”
The tricolor coach highlights Minho’s trajectory in recent seasons, but also gives an account of the feel of living in Ribolera. “We’re going into a new cycle, where we’ll be in a fully professional competition, and we’re ready for that. We know tomorrow we’re going to face Vesela. He’s had the same coach for three years, who maintains the same process and game model, and that this club has made a fantastic journey, with two successive promotions.” But despite all this, we are playing at home and we want to win and beat this draw,” stressed Rui Santos.
Remember that the duel between Estrella da Amadora and Vizela, referring to the first stage of the League Cup, is scheduled for 15.30 this Saturday. The return of the legendary Jose Gómez stadium, in Ribolera, will be a wonderful football afternoon…
Matthews Dantas is also optimistic
Matthews Dantas also attended the press conference to preview the match against the Vizelenses.
The Brazilian centre-back, who arrived this season in Amadora, from Casa Pia, has shown all the will of the three colors to move forward in the competition and have a good season. “I am very happy to be a part of this group. I feel ready both physically and mentally, and I hope to help the group in a great season. And he concluded that our team is very united, completely focused on the ideas that the technical team sends us, and our main goal is to win tomorrow’s match”.
